94% of you say you don’t have a lot of confidence in the media…well stop reading and watching the traditional sources, then! If the headlines in my news feeds and google alerts are any indication of media bias, it’s real and it is absurd. I have seen this pattern for years but this cycle it’s just overwhelmingly obvious. Despite this the MSM continue to pretend to be arbiters of truth, not infested with left-wing ideologues.
I tend not to blame the public, generally. Americans aren’t morons contrary to popular belief. The adults, especially two income families, do not have time for the news. They are worried about making their next car payment or debating whether to pay the water bill or the electric bill. They have to sit around and clip coupons 5 hours a week to save money so that their kids can eat.
It is hard to make the distinction about media bias unless you are a news junkie like myself. Some fathers build cabinets or work on their cars. I scour the internet for reliable sources. Hard working middle America doesn’t have the time to invest in fact checking everything the talking head says on the local six o’clock news as they eat dinner with their family.
As soon as the kids (that have driven you crazy all day) are finally in bed you just want to relax with your partner and watch Game of Thrones. If both of you have enough energy, there might be some sex involved. After the sex the news can go to hell because you are so tired you pass out naked and pray you wake up before the kids do so they don’t run into your bedroom and see your pale white ass.
Fox News and conservative talk radio are an echo chamber. I like a lot of those guys but they aren’t influencing thought. I am sure the amount of leftists Hannity has converted this year, truthfully, wouldn’t even be enough to influence my town’s council election. Again, I like Sean. The right’s out reach just sucks.
We know what angle FOX is coming from. (Even though it seems while they normally are all in for the GOP presidential candidate this cycle many are taking the “principled conservative” line. Where were these “ principled conservatives” in 2008 & 2012?). The seats are overloaded with right-wing pundits and to be “fair and balanced” they will have a token leftist. Like MSNBC, at least FOX isn’t pretending to be CNN or most other news outlets.
News Corp (FOX parent company) started a website run by a woman who was a conservative MP in England. It’s called Heat Street. You may have heard of it. It is an attempt to reach out to millennials. Well, the woman who runs it seems to be supporting Hillary now. Not just objecting to Trump but celebrating her leads in polls.

The site has some good pieces on SJW’s being nutters but every so often the insidious pro Clinton nonsense comes out. If anything this may be more harmful than MSNBC, because here you have a “right-wing” site aimed at a younger audience sneaking in articles that misconstrue or even fail to mention positive aspects of Trump.(In the article linked the author wrote: “Trump pretty much had to crawl into a hole and politically cry as Republicans piled in to praise Tim Kaine too, especially those Republican leaders who can’t stand Democrat Trump”. The examples used were tweets by famed neocon warmonger Bill Kristol) Type Trump in the search box on Heat Street and you will see what I mean. Trivial stories talking about some unknown bald man for president instead of coverage of Donald Trump’s huge economic speech.
For the most part the rest of the media try hard to claim impartiality. The NY Times has always been a left-wing bastion of lies. Now it has gone past that and is simply a propaganda arm of the Clinton campaign. It’s happening at the Washington Post as well. Even your local news cast and newspaper is owned by some super entity directing the play of even the tiniest detail.
Unless you know where to look for on social media you will find yourself lost in a forest of lies and misrepresentations. They bury positive news about certain things and instead push to the top of social media feeds a nobody with a bald head and small face that wants to run for president as a Trump spoiler.
I have more respect for the Jill Stein or even the Bernie supporter than I do for Clintonites. Even though I generally disagree with them they are well aware of this bias in the media. They know something is wrong but tend to go in the opposite direction. Which is fine. At least they are searching.
I would much rather have a conversation with someone authentically curious I disagree with than an inauthentic individual that nods his head at my every word. Now, if you agree with that statement don’t talk to me. I’m joking, of course. I’m being hyperbolic on purpose. I mean it, however, when I tell you to give me the authentically curious person. The terms “authentically” and “inauthentically curious” make the sentence. If you are authentically curious about more taboo subjects yet disagree with me but we both can learn from one another, I am more than happy to converse.
The robots on either side are spewing forth ridiculous deflections, such as: “I am a Russian spy” or “Donald Trump is crazy and racist”. As if simply uttering popular buzz words makes you an independent thinker. As if regurgitating them somehow makes you a superior inquirer of all that is just and true. You cannot really put too many original spins on FBI crime statistics. I am not talking about that (although, mentioning FBI crime statistics relating to race can raise the ire of even the right side of the aisle). I am talking about those who read Buzzfeed like it’s gospel and yes, even those caught in the FOX/conservative news echo chamber.
If you truly wish to delve deeper into rabbit holes with me for the sake of gaining knowledge, grab my hand.
This site, New Media Central, is obviously coming from a right-wing perspective. I am not fooling anyone. I want us here to find the balance between not becoming a conservative echo chamber that takes talking points right from the GOP and shining a light on subjects even networks like FOX might pass up.
FOX would never talk about race. I say let us have a fair and open discussion about it. FOX rarely talks about traditional roles and the inherent worth of a woman who values tradition. I say, let’s dig deeper into that. We even had a discussion on my show, The Patriarchy Show, with a guest known as Wild Goose about possible Soviet involvement in the holocaust. It wasn’t just some redneck anti-Semitic rant but a short conversation about the issues.
Is it a crime to question? I am not a conspiracy theorist. I am aware it is a loaded term. I don’t believe that aliens committed 9/11. Nevertheless, if there are questions that are raised and no answer is readily available, we should all be inquisitive and delve deeper into that topic. Also, to ridicule people who may have a different way of looking at a news story as a conspiracy theorist has been reported to have been invented by the CIA to make those that do not fall in line with the official narrative as crazy. It is a conspiracy theory about a conspiracy theory.
The above are just to name ten off the top of my head. Utilize Google. I find sometimes what I am looking for may be on page 4 of the search results. Due diligence is key.
It’s a tired analogy, but with the news only being trusted by only 6% of the population, it might be time for a mass ingestion of red pills. Can the public make it through the journey? Would they rather make a deal with the machines and stay plugged in? If there has ever been a time for the public to attempt to remove the scales from their eyes, the time is now.
And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized
