Shooting at Fort Lauderdale Airport. Reported 5 Dead & 8 Wounded Update: Picture of Gunman. Seems to be Islamic Terrorism

Around 1pm EST this afternoon there was a shooting at Fort Lauderdale Airport in Florida. The reports coming in say 5 are dead and 8 are wounded. As of this time reports claim his name is Esteban Santiago, he was carrying a military ID, he is 26 and from New Jersey. He lived in Anchorage, Alaska from 2014 to 2016. He has a minor criminal record in Anchorage and was evicted from his home for nonpayment of rent. He is believed to be living in Lake Mary, Florida. There was a report of a second incident of shots fired as well. However, the sheriff’s office denies these reports and say he acted alone.

According to witnesses the shooter got off a Canadian flight, picked up his bag which had a gun, went to the bathroom, loaded his gun and began shooting.

Mark Lea, a financial adviser from Minneapolis, was in the baggage claim area when a man came in and started shooting.

“I was dodging bullets and trying to help people get out of the way,” the 53-year-old said.

Fort Lauderdale Airport is currently closed.


Police scanner just reported at 3:26pm more shots fired. The reports of multiple gunmen and shots may be mixed reports of the initial incident. Will update as more information comes in.
