Ex-Democrat IT aide Imran Awan pled guilty Tuesday to federal bank fraud charges in a plea deal made with prosecutors. As part of the deal Awan’s wife Hina Aivi would have her charges dropped, and Awan would plead guilty to making false statements on a loan application.
Awan was an employee of Debbie Wasserman Schultz along with being on the payroll of several other democrat congressional members. He and his wife were indicted by a grand jury last August for federal bank fraud, after an investigation was done into allegations of conspiracy to obtain home equity lines of credit from the Congressional Federal Credit Union by using false information about two separate properties, and sending the proceeds to individuals in Pakistan.
Christopher J. Gowen, Awan’s attorney is seeking a probation only sentence with no fines or retribution.
